[GeoNetwork-users] ESRI to ISO19139 tools and export from GeoNetwork as XML?

Hi Jeroen,

Thanks for your suggestions, I am testing some things out.

Currently I can import ArcGIS 9.0 (using 9.2 client) ISO or ISO19139 exported
xml metadata files into GeoNetwork 2.1 using the ArcCatalog8_to_ISO19115
Stylesheet and specifying iso19115 as the destination schema.

It doesn't seem to matter which ESRI format that I use.

However I seem to be loosing some of the relevant info (such as abstract)
once it is imported into GeoNetwork.

I'm not sure how to convert from 19115 to 19139 within Geonetwork.

I also don't know how to export XML from Geonetwork in a form that I can
read. I can export in the 'mef' format using GAST but haven't been able to
read this yet:-(

Perhaps running the XSLTtransform outside of Geonetwork is worth a try?

Hi,

I'm looking for a method of getting ESRI xml metadata into

Geonetwork in

ISO19139 format.

Is anyone else looking at this and may have some advice on the way

forward?

As you may have seen, there's a conversion from ArcCat v8 & v9.0 ISO

metadata into ISO19115:DIS. There is also a conversion from

ISO19115:DIS into ISO19139 encoded metadata. So you could combine

those XSLTs to convert ISO metadata created in the wizard of those

versions of ArcCatalog.

I have to investigate what the current metadata format of ArcGIS 9.2

is to understand what is required.

Possibly it supports 19139 already!? In that case, the transformation

could be done on the ArcCatalog side without problems.

What version of ArcGIS are you looking at?
