[GeoNetwork-users] Exporting metadata from ArcCatalog to GN

Dear all,

With colleagues we are looking to find a simple (and potentially free) way to export metadata from ArcCatalog (9.x or 10) to GN 2.6.x
We have tried to export our metadata using the ISO19139 export but the upload to GN failed.
I've looked to several forums that this looks like a recurrent problem but did not find any "simple" solution.

Is there any simple way to do that? We know that there is GeoCat Bridge (and it looks great) but we are also looking for a solution that we can easily propose to project partners.

Thanks for your help.

Greg

Hi Greg,

Can you give us some more info on why the upload to GN failed? Did you get some error messages? I'd like to investigate this further as we also have other people asking about this.

Cheers,
Simon

Hi Simon,

Thanks for your quick reaction.
Well in fact, the import is successful but there is no possibilities to look at the metadata record.
I looked to the database itself but any records were uploaded. And no error messages :frowning:

Cheers

Hmm. Maybe the namespaces on the metadata document are different and thus the XML isn't handled by the XSLTs in GeoNetwork? Can you attach an example metadata record p[roduced by ArcCatalog ISO19139 export?

Cheers,
Simon

Test record seems to import ok into 2.7 (schema detected is iso19139). I can see the metadata in the viewer etc. I'll check out what happens with 2.6.x now.

Greg,

Seems ok in 2.6.4 as well (tried both batch import from dir of xml files and copy/paste import)? Might need to see more info on how you're uploading this to GeoNetwork because I think this should work. Maybe the permissions on the uploaded record have not been set so that you/others can view the record?

Cheers,
Simon

Dear Simon, Dear Francois,

We have properly reinstalled and configured GN 2.6.4 and everything works fine now.
We have successfully uploaded XML ISO19139 metadata (exported from ArcGIS 10), without stylesheet, schema detected automatically by GN

Sorry for having disturbed  and thanks to the GN community.

Cheers

Greg
