Dear Sirs,
The organization that I'm working for sets up the infrastructure (servers,
internet connection, etc.) to be used by government institution to publish
there metadata records. What we are planning to do is to setup an instance
of GeoNetwork at each government institution so that they can create their
metadata, export in xml format, burn them on CD and mail it to us. We do
this because the existing infrastructure in the country doesn't allow us to
use the benefit of metadata harvesting in GeoNetwork. Therefore, we want to
batch import the metadata records that we received from different
government institutions in the form of xml and publish them online.
While testing this procedure before implementation, I faced the following
problems.
- I couldn't find a direct way to export metadata in xml format in
GeoNetwork. The only possible way I found was to save each metadata (one by
one) as xml file by clicking on the 'Save metadata to xml' button.
- I then tried to import the xml files (that I just saved) to GeoNetwok by
using both 'Metadata insert' and 'Batch Import' facilities, but they
generated error message saying
Metadata is not valid. IllegalStateException : Root element not set
So I appreciate if anyone help me to resolve these problems.
Just to summarize my question,
1.Is there any other way to export metadata in xml format?
2.Is it possible to do a batch export for selected metadata records?
3.How can I import xml files (extracted from GN) into GeoNetwork without
error?
4.Is there a better way to do this than we planned to implement?
Best regards,
Girum.
