Sorry for cross posting.
I now seem to GN version 2.7 snapshot revision r8695 with ANZMEST
schemaplugins revision r8650.p migrated and running on the new server.
I am now debugging or documenting the errors.
When I start up GN I get the following in the catalina.out file:

it.geosolutions.imageio.gdalframework.GDALUtilities loadGDAL
WARNING: Failed to load the GDAL native libs. This is not a problem
unless you need to use the GDAL plugins: they won't be
enabled.java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no gdaljni in java.library.path
What does the GDAL library do? What are the consequences of not
installing it and how do I install it if I want to use the GDAL
features?

Hi John,
GDAL is an popular C library for accessing geographic file formats. Geoserver has an optional extension to allow integration with GDAL. You don’t need it in the majority of cases.
