Hi Robert,
To chip in here with my 02c worth...
The UI was built using the Silverstripe CMS/web framework by Silverstripe themselves & funded by two NZ Govt agencies, LINZ & MORST for http://www.geodata.govt.nz (If you want to know more about them - Google is your friend
While I was not involved in the original development, I very happily reused the tool (Silverstripe is also FOSS) in the http://www.os2020.org.nz website.
FYI, our use of Geonetwork & the Silverstripe interface is described in a teleconferece presentation to the Australasian Geonetwork User Group, now available at:
http://www.osdm.gov.au/Metadata/GeoNetwork/Resources/11_BWood_GN_NIWA_20111114.pdf/?id=1178
It provides a much friendlier user interface, hiding much of the complexity of ISO 19115 compliant metadata from the user. I use it as a read only tool, as we manage the content in house.
It has since been redeployed in a marine biosecurity portal, and will shortly go live again for web access to data & reports from a major offshore survey around New Zealand, the advantages of Open Source technology being obvious.
Cheers,
Brent Wood

Fantastic looking application with slick interface....do you have any links decscribing how your organization created this?
It would be invaluable for the list.

Betreff: [GeoNetwork-users] Gallery of GeoNetwork Nodes
Hi there
I am keen to include www.geodata.govt.nz on the list of known GeoNetwork
opensource based catalogues.
The http://geonetwork-opensource.org/gallery/gallery.html#geonetwork-nodes
Geonetwork opensource website suggests that I "Send us an email if you want
your node to be listed here." Unfortunately, I don't know what email I
should us. Can someone please help me?
Thanks in anticipation,
John
