Hello everyone,
My configuration:
- Geonetwork 3.8
- 52north SOS version 4.4.12
I'm implementing a SOS for INSPIRE-compliant delivery of time-series
datasets.
I've been testing the SOS harvester to create the service MD based on
the SOS server (possible for SOS version 1.0 according to the
documentation) but it isn't working quite nicely. Although I'm selecting
the SOS protocol in the harvester it still creates a WMS service
metadata. Therefore I wrote the SOS service MD manually and I'm
wondering if:
- is it possible to view the SOS data on the Geonetwork map?
- to be INSPIRE-compliant is it enough to have the service and dataset
metadata files on geonetwork and a "simple" link from the dataset
metadata to the SOS web-app?
- Are there plan in the future to make use of SOS API in Geonetwork?
Thanks for your input,
Best,
Nicolas

Hi Nicolas, Pim and Joana worked on SOS support in the map-viewer at Bolsena 2015, but never finished and there seemed not much interest. Great to hear there is actually interest today.
We have some records describing a SOS in the Dutch national catalog i work with frequently, but indeed it lacks a capability to add it to a map.
See https://www.nationaalgeoregister.nl/geonetwork/srv/dut/catalog.search#/metadata/733559a5-201d-40e5-ad43-d1c7bae84d9f
I’m not aware of the latest INSPIRE requirements for SOS as a download service, but I guess it will be similar as WFS and Atom, So yes I'd expect a requirement for a link between a dataset-record and the service-record (src:operatesOn). I hope you will share you’re progress with the list, maybe even set up a SOS and INSPIRE in GeoNetwork & 52 North tutorial.
Regards, Paul.
