[GeoNetwork-users] Geonetwork installation and error

Could somebody sort me out with this error.

Im trying to install Geonetwork in windows and on calling
http://localhost:8080/geonetwork i get the following error

Tranformation exception

Could not compile stylesheet

Dear Julius,
You have to make sure your GeoNetwork installation uses a Java version 1.5 and not 1.6. You can find guidelines in the Documentation Center on the http://geonetwork-opensource.org website on this issue.

Jeroen,
I am using Java 1.6, and that's what I put into the Ubuntu install howto.
I am not getting that error. Also, I am not using Windows
Is this just a lucky coincidence that things are working fine for me?

I am also using Ubuntu, Java 1.6, and Tomcat 5.5 and do not have any
problems (except for Intermap, which is still not fully functional).

Hello!

I use GN RC1 on an Ubuntu 6.06 LAMP Server and Jdk6. By installing x-server-org, xfonts-base, xfs, x-window-system-core, gnome-core I know got a relativley lean GUI that makes it possible to run Install, Gast, etc.
To me it seems like so far the reason for the conflict between Tomcat (5.5 or 6) and Intermap isn't known, so I prefered to use the integrated Jetty at the moment. In this constellation it works.

Maybe just lucky. Not sure. It depends on the XML parser that is found first I think. Francois got Java 1.6 to behave too, by putting the required JAR files into a preferred location I think.

Hi,
Oh yes, this has to do with the xalan libraries. I got it to behave as
well:

sudo cp xalan-j_2_7_0/*.jar /usr/share/tomcat5/common/endorsed/
