[GeoNetwork-users] geonetwork v3.0.0 map viewer

Greetings — I’ve got GeoNetwork v3.0.0 installed, and am attempting to use the map viewer, without much success. For starters, I’m using the default "Hydrological Basins in Africa” record, for which there is an associated WMS online resource (which I assume is required for the map viewer). I can click “Add to map” when viewing the record, and it brings up the map viewer but the layer is not visible. Alternatively, I can go to the map viewer and search for/add the record as a layer by clicking the (+) sign to the right of the layer name, but it is not visible. After I do the latter, when I click Manage Layers I fail to see the record as a layer. I don’t see documentation on this new feature, so I’m not sure what to do next.

Thanks for your assistance.

Regards,

Jim P.

Hi,

Greetings — I’ve got GeoNetwork v3.0.0 installed, and am attempting to

use the map viewer, without much success. For starters, I’m using the
default "Hydrological Basins in Africa” record, for which there is an
associated WMS online resource (which I assume is required for the map
viewer). I can click “Add to map” when viewing the record, and it brings up
the map viewer but the layer is not visible. Alternatively, I can go to the
map viewer and search for/add the record as a layer by clicking the (+)
sign to the right of the layer name, but it is not visible. After I do the
latter, when I click Manage Layers I fail to see the record as a layer. I
don’t see documentation on this new feature, so I’m not sure what to do
next.

I've it working fine on the demo here http://apps.titellus.net/geonetwork
searching for africa or hypsometry then adding to the map. The samples are
only available using WMS 1.x and even in FAO WMS, the referenced layers are
not in the capabilities even if distributed by the service (some kind of
proxy in between) so you'll have warning like "Layer
'GEONETWORK:basins_296' not found in WMS capability. The layer may not be
displayed properly." but it should be displayed and better on WMS 1.3.0
services. More info here
https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/issues/887 but it's fixed in
3.0.0.

HTH.

Francois

Thanks for your assistance.
