[GeoNetwork-users] Geonetwork XML metadata export?

Hi list

The standard Geonetwork MEF and TXT format exports are not suitable for my purposes. How is it possible to export BULK metadata records from geonetwork with individual XML files named the same as the Title or Alternate Title of the dataset being described?

This seems like it should be easy but I can see no way to do so. Is there a style sheet which will help?

Many thanks

Greg.

Hi Greg,

We encountered a similar problem and ended up writing a python script to
iterate through the folders, figure out the title for each record, and
rename the file accordingly. Our script also does a bunch of other things
too, but if you don't get a better solution I'd be willing to pop it on
github so you can edit it to suit your needs.

Regards

Jo

Hi,

Personally, I would work directly on the /metadata/ table in the database, using some ETL : the /data/ field contains the XML, you would just have to retrieve it for each record, browse it for the title field, and write the corresponding file.
To my opinion, that's exactly what ETLs are intended to do.
Cheers,

Jean

Hi Greg,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you with our geonetwork WAF script-
I had to edit our existing one quite a bit to remove the additional
features. You can find it at
https://github.com/AstunTechnology/geonetwork_waf_processing. Note that
it's not really a "supported product" from Astun, just a little script that
we use, but if you find any issues please let us know via github. Note also
that it's only tested with Geonetwork 2.10 and the Gemini 2.2 schema, so
you will definitely need to change it to work for your requirements, but I
hope it's useful.

Regards

Jo

Thanks Jo, yes please! That would be great if you could. I can't see
why geonetwork doesn't have this functionality built in. Maybe I should
post to the developer list and see if anyone decides to take it up...

But on thee anyone that would be awesome if you could. Thanks!

Greg.
