[GeoNetwork-users] GN 2.10.3 mapviewer: Has anybody ever got a GetFeatureInfo Response?

Dear all,

after quite some problems with our complex proxy configuartion we finally
managed to set up the map viewer from GeoNetwork 2.10.3.

This is the application:
http://geoportal.geodaten.niedersachsen.de/harvest/
<http://geoportal.geodaten.niedersachsen.de/harvest/>

["Karte anzeigen" means show map.]

Basic map is shown. Zooming in and out is possible. Other WMS can be added
via the green button with the white +. (At least, most of the given WMS work
so far, sometimes it is a problem with the scales used.).

But the thing is: It is still impossible to get a GetFeatureInfo response by
using the white i-button.

I wonder if this feature is implemented at all. Does somebody know about it?
Has anybody ever got a GetFeature Response in GeoNetwork by using this
button?? Does somebody now, where the requests send by the map viewer are
logged? (This was the strangest thing, because we could not find the
requests in any server-log).

I am looking forward to your replies!

Greetings
Anja

Hi Anja,

I think the problem here is not within Geonetwork but in the backend WMS-servers you are sourcing the maps from. Some of the underlying WMS servers do not support the INFO FORMAT required by Geonetwork (application/gml), some are returning a "HTTP 500" error, some are returning no attribute data, some layers are not queryable (such as the "Landkreise" and "Gemeinden" overlays).

The GetFeatureInfo requests won't be logged in any server log because the client is directly communicating with the WMS server. Geonetwork only takes the role of a proxy in this case.

To analyse the GetFeatureInfo requests (and others) I would recommend to use a tool such as Firebug (if you are on Firefox) or the Web Developer Tools in Chrome and IE. They provide you with information on every HTTP request that is being performed.

Regards,
Max
