Hi there,
The new version of GN using openlayers appears to be much heavier than older
versions. The file openlayers.js alone is over 700k
Is there a way to reduce the load time? I guess removing/disabling the large
map viewer might help?
I also noticed on
http://www.nationaalgeoregister.nl/geonetwork/scripts/openlayers/lib/OpenLayers.js
the OpenLayers.js is only 174kB. Can I use this in version 2.6.3?
The GN site is reasonably fast after being cached in the browser, but it
would be best to try and reduce the web page load time on first accessing.
Suggestions?
Cheers,
Richard

In older versions of GN, the user had to click on a button to open the larger
viewer - is this feasible in the current GN version? This might help improve
the rendering speed of GN's home page.

Hello, maybe a good start is to activate compression on your webserver e.g.
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/mod/mod_deflate.html
Also loading ext.js from CDN could help (see
http://www.sencha.com/blog/ext-cdn-custom-builds-compression-and-fast-performance/).
