Hi Kathy,
It sounds like a bug so better to file a bug report and the developers can help
you further.
Your harvest logo (right click logo and inspect html) should point to a URL like:

But you are saying it points to ‘dummyUUID’.gif which doesn’t sound right.
To a file a bug report on github geonetwork:
Describe the problem, be sure to provide the exact version of GN you are running and any
other relevant info e.g. the type of harvest you ran, the parameters you provide to the
harvest

Thank you so much for working with me on this, because I am baffled.
But you are correct. The harvest ID equals UUID2. And I double-checked that all the other tables for sources and settings all have that same harvest source matched to the appropriate UUID.
There really isn’t an issue with the harvest. All my harvested records display fine including thumbnails and metadata.
It’s just this craziness somewhere that GN thinks the logo is ‘dummyUUID’.gif instead of the correct UUID2.gif.
Add to the oddity is that if I try to just display the dummy logo in my browser it gives me a service-not-found error. If I rename the logo by just taking a zero away, it displays fine.
Basically I’m trying to do one of two things – I don’t really care which one if it works:
-
somehow I need to find the hook for GeoNetwork to use the UUID2 logo instead of this dummy one. I’m guessing it is in some XML or JS somewhere, but I have yet to stumble on it. Someone alluded on the list the other day a ‘hack’ for changing logos. But no details. Do you know?
-
or figure out why the browsers are trying to access a service when I pull up that particular ‘dummy’ logo and thus throw an error – if it displayed that logo, I would be fine with it because I could put any logo I wanted to with that name.
Does that make sense?

Hi Kathy,
There is another thing you could check. In the Geonetwork db table ‘METADATA’ there are 2 columns
ISHARVESTED and HARVESTUUID. Find those records with ISHARVESTED=’y’ and look at the HARVESTUUID
Value for those. The HARVESTUUID should (I think) match your for that harvest.
By the way what type of harvest did you run? Was it the usual ‘Geonetwork V2.1 Remote Node’
or some other such as WEB DAV, CSW etc

Thanks! There are several lines in the sources table of course including the one for my site icon.
However, one is for the that is showing in the html for the broken images. It has the name of “dummy”. Then there is another uuid for the name of the org that I harvested.
“”;“dummy”
“”;“”
So thoughts on where to go from here?
(and I had the logos as you suggest in their files but I also threw a copy of the .gif with the name. No diff of course.)

Hi Kathy,
We run a Geonetwork similar to 2.6 here and I guessing 2.8 didn’t change much wrt. Logos.
You should check that a copy of your web/geonetwork/images/harvesting/default.gif file (the ‘harvested’ logo) exists in a file web/geonetwork/images/logos/.gif. Where is the long alpha-numeric name you mention.
The is an identifier for the ‘source’ of the harvest. Also check the ‘sources’ table in your Geonetwork database. This table contains a columns named ‘UUID’, ‘NAME’, ‘ISLOCAL’. You should be able to see the ‘name’ of your recent ‘special’ harvest and it’s uuid. For this uuid there should be a corresponding uuid.gif in web/geonetwork/images/logos.

Sorry for cross-posting, but didn’t get any answers on the users list…
Any ideas on how to reset the logo for harvested records? I did try dumping and reloading the metadata record but then it assigns me as owner and changes the logo to my default site logo. I would like to keep the harvested logo on these.
(I do not have the ability to re-harvest these records as the site owner gave me special permission to access their site and then closed that access after I grabbed the records.)
I also checked permissions on the harvest logo and they are exactly the same as my site logo.

Subject: Harvesting Logo 2.8
I have records in my 2.8 catalog that I have harvested from another geonetwork instance. The system used the ‘default.gif’ harvested logo and all was good. It has been looking fine for a couple of months.
Recently I started getting a broken image for the existing harvested records even though I have verified that the logo still exists, name is the same, still lives in the harvesting folder and is viewable when I click on logo management in administration. I took a look at the html and it looks like it is trying to display an image from the logos folder with a long alpha-numeric name. I tried copying the harvested gif to that folder with that name, but the image still does not display – if I attempt to display image from the html, I get an error ‘could not display xxxx.gif because it has errors’.
Can anyone suggest a way that I can reassign a logo to these records or some other way to fix this issue? I see that in the new version there is the ability to assign different logos to various harvests, but I’m not upgraded yet.
