I would like to use the harvesting to collect remote data. But, I don’t know how I have to operate ? Could you give me the best method ?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Pierre,

to setup remote harvesting you have to edit the web/WEB-INF/config.xml file.
At the beginning of that file, there is a commented block like this one:

<!--
    <schedule name="geonetwork sync" class=".schedules.MetadataSync" when="12 hours">
      <param name="sites">
      ...
      </param>
    </schedule>
-->

You have to uncomment this block, use the inline comments to understand the
parameters meaning and remove the comments (or fix them) to have a good xml
file. The parameter 'site' represents one remote geonetwork node, so you can add
as many remote nodes as you want.

Cheers,
Andrea

I've just done a clean install of 2.0.1 and am attempting to create some
metadata. When I select Administration|New Metadata, the page that
comes up has a selection box for templates, but nothing is in the box.
What files is it supposed to find to use, and where should they be located?

Thanks!

Hi Archie, two things to try :
- log in as admin to geonetwork and search for templates with the interface
- have a look to your table METADATA and search for row with ISTEMPLATE = y

If nothing there, you could try to import a new one with an xml import,
switch to edit mode and tick the checkbox to set your new metadata as a
template.

Hi Francois,

Thanks for the help. This worked, at least to the extent that I was able to
locate templates via the search. I can even modify one and save it as a
template. However, when I go to create new metadata, I still don't have any
templates listed in the pull-down box on the Metadata creation page, and
attempting to create it without a selection results in an error.

I guess the question is why aren't any templates listed on the Metadata creation
page?

Hi!
I would just like to add that this allows for metadata harvesting, the data itself is not transferred! Links to the data remain pointing to the original location.
Ciao,
Jeroen
