[GeoNetwork-users] How to configure GeoNetwork editor to select only keywords in a thesaurus?

Hi GeoNetwork users and developers,

After reading through the documentation for GeoNetwork 3.0.4, I can not tell if the following is supported:

--> Allow users to select keywords from a large thesaurus, like the NASA GCMD Science Keywords, but not allow them to enter free-text.

I have imported the GCMD Science Keywords successfully, but I cannot figure out how to connect this thesaurus to the editor.

I want to give users the ability to enter one or more keywords from this thesaurus, but not allow them to create their own free-text keywords.

Does GeoNetwork 3.0.4 support this, and does anyone have a working example for inserting into ISO 19139?

Thanks in advance!

Hi again,

After not hearing a reply, I am wondering if my question is best sent to the developer mailing list.

Can anyone suggest an appropriate forum for my question?

Thank you!

Hi Brian

The metadata editor has a widget for selecting terms from thesaurus, but it
has also the option for free-text keywords. I think what you want to do can
be done, but will require some development to customise the default view or
to create a new view.

Here is the file to customise the views:
https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/blob/3.0.4/schemas/iso19139/src/main/plugin/iso19139/layout/config-editor.xml

Some additional information about the editor:

   -
   http://geonetwork-opensource.org/manuals/trunk/eng/users/customizing-application/editor-ui/creating-custom-editor.html
   - The xsd that includes documentation about previous file:
   https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/blob/3.0.4/schemas/config-editor.xsd

Hope this can be useful.

Regards,
Jose García

Mobile security can be enabling, not merely restricting. Employees who
bring their own devices (BYOD) to work are irked by the imposition of MDM
restrictions. Mobile Device Manager Plus allows you to control only the
apps on BYO-devices by containerizing them, leaving personal data
untouched!
