[GeoNetwork-users] How to configure SMTP Server in Geonetwork?

Hi,

I have configured Geonetwork 2.6.4 on localhost:8080 with embedded DB Mckoi
& servlet container Jetty on Windows 7 Professional SP1.

In GN 'system configuration', I have selected LDAP authentication.

Host: localhost
Port: 389
Default Profile: Registered User
Uid Attribute: uid=admin

Distinguished names:-
Base: dc=fao,dc=org
Users: ou=users,ou=system,ou=geonetworkusers,ou=geonetworkgroups

User's Attribute:-
Name: cn
Profile: profile

I have created geonetwork user via 'User Management' but I am not able to
login the user via LDAP.
and have no idea how to create new users for Geonetwork to be able to use
LDAP.
I have googled for LDAP for windows 7 but no use.

Please could someone help me with this issue.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Saher

When using ldap, users are not created through the "User Management"
interface. They can however be edited there. When using ldap authentication,
the user must already exist in the ldap. Logging on to GeoNetwork with a
valid ldap user will "create" a user in GeoNetwork. This user can then be
edited in the "User Management" interface.

Cheers,
Byron

Hi Byron,

Thank you.
Please could you also guide which LDAP to be used with GN 2.6.4, configured on localhost:8080 with embedded DB Mckoi and Jetty, on Windows 7 Professional SP1.

Kind Regards,

Saher

When using ldap authentification you must have a ldap server with structure
compatible with geonetwork (nothing in documentation for the compatibility).
After, you need to create user in the ldap structure with the role and don't
use the user manager in geonetwork. I don't use ldap so i can't help more.
Have a nice day.

Hell Saher,

I just started researching to setup exactly what you mentioned in your post,
I was wondering if you had any luck in your LDAP setup or configuration with
GeoNetwork.

Any reference to documentation would be of great help, I can't find much
documentation for LDAP and geonetwork configuration.

Regards

Sam

Hi Sam,

No i have not yet solved this problem as you are right there is not much document available.
I had configured on localhost so one of the reasons that smpt was not working was due to it, so in a couple of days I moving on a server so hopefully it would work there.
I will update you as soon i come up with any solution.

There is a small request that in case you come up with any solution with either SMTP or LDAP please do share it.

Kind Regards,
Saher
