I was having the same problem when using jre1.5.0_17 (using the Windows
installer or the platform independent installer, didn't matter). Using the
platform independent installer: I would get the .xsl errors during install,
GN server would start but I could not open the URL in the browser. Using
the windows installer: I would get the .xsl errors, GN server would start,
the URL worked but the GN screen was completely blank.
I then installed jre6 (update 14), keeping the previous jre in case some
other software wanted to use it, removed the previous GN installation,
reinstalled GN (platform independent, didn't try Windows installer) and then
GN worked fine.
