Hi,
I have created metadata using the JRC Inspire Metadata Creator and saved it
to a file. I have then used the metadata insert route to load the data into
GeoNetwork 2.6 with the validate button flagged, and the inspire flag ticked
in system configuration. It has validated correctly and if I press the check
button it ticks all the following options:
Compliance to metadata standard (XML Schema)
Compliance to metadata recommandations (Schematron)
GeoNetwork recommandations ISO 19115/19119 rules
However when I do a search and ask it to display INSPIRE metadata only it
doesn't appear. How do you tell GeoNetwork that the data is INSPIRE
metadata? what information does it require at a minimum to distinguish it?
(By the way recommandation(recommendation) is spelt wrong in all your
documents)
On another topic I'm running geonetwork on a windows server and wanted it
run as a service, information on how to do this was hard to find but after
much searching I managed to get it working. FYI I needed to get the
GeonetworkService.exe file from BlueNetMEST and was able to us sc create to
establish the service however it needed one small tweak to the
start_geonetwork.bat file to get it to continue working after I logged off,
that was adding the -Rsx parameter to the JAVA command. Just in case anyone
else is struggling with this.

In addition I updated to 2.6 recently but when I had 2.4 installed I was able
to load this data but needed the validate flag turned off to get it in. Once
in using the check option it stated that the data was valid and once I had
done this I was able to use the search functions and it would appear when
the inspire only data was selected, so it recognised that the data was
INSPIRE compatible. In 2.6 it no longer recognises it. This is kind of
frustrating as I feel so close to getting this service up and running now
and I'm kind of stopped in my tracks until I can resolve this.
Also in 2.6 I can no longer run the update privileges option either on
individual items or on all selected, when I do this the window appears but
the little in progress circle just whirls continuously and it never brings
up the selection menu. Any ideas why this is happening. Unless I can change
the priveleges so that people can see that metadata the system isn't going
to be very useful.

As far as updating privileges, I had this issue too. Are you by chance hooked up to a non UTF-8 external database? That was what caused problems for me. I'm using GeoNetwork 2.6.0 with an Oracle database (just the default character set), and it wasn't liking the russian characters that GN puts in several tables. After deleting the problem rows, permission updating started working.

I am using an oracle datbase and have already had problems with the russian
entries, I had to remove them from the categoriesdes and groupsdes files to
be able to add a group and thanks to you I've now also removed them from the
operationsdes. Thanks for that.
I'd worked out a workaround in the meantime by just manually inserting the
relevant records in the OPERTAIONALLOWED table but that wasn't a very
satisfactory solution.
still looking for a method to perform inspire validation of the metadata.
I've worked out that inspire validation isn't enabled by default but can't
work out how to enable it.
Any help please.

Hi Caroline
About the search of INSPIRE metadata, please check this:
http://trac.osgeo.org/geonetwork/ticket/337
I added a workaround to get it working until fixed.

Thanks Jose, Thats the sort of straight forward solution I was hoping for.
I'm not at work today but will try it out on Monday and hopefully I will
then be able to set up our metadata server live.
