[GeoNetwork-users] inspire template and other things

Dear Geonework Users,
I have just installed the war file of geonework under tomcat6 on a
Ubuntu 10.4 server.

All is working quite well.

I have some questions:

(1) I can't find an INSPIRE template for metadata. My question is:
if I create a metadata using this portal:
http://www.inspire-geoportal.eu/index.cfm/pageid/342
and then I save the xml and I import it as a template into geonetwork,
is it correct to say that I have created an INSPIRE template for
geonetwork?

(2) I see that the map (visualizer) is empty at start. I would like to
add a base map as the blue marble or something else. I have tried using
the "add layer" button but, it seems the layer is not loaded on the map
and, moreover, it is added to the "overlay" node of the layers tree not
to the "base" node.
how to add a base layer to the map? should I define this layers in the
openlayer file? where I can find it?

many many thanks

Ivan

Hi Ivan

About (1), I think is ok the way you comment to create the INSPIRE template.

About (2), geonetwork.war uses a GeoServer configured with the default
layers of GeoNetwork. But this customized GeoServer is not delivered as a
war file as GeoNetwork. You can try one of these things:

* Install GeoNetwork with installer to a temporal folder and get the
geoserver.war from INSTALL_FOLDER/web/geoserver.war to deploy in your
tomcat, or

* configure in GeoNetwork the file WEB-INF/config-gui.xml with the layers
from external WMS servers to show in map search/viewer. For example:

<mapSearch options="{projection: 'EPSG:4326', maxExtent: new
OpenLayers.Bounds(-180,-90,180,90), units: 'm', restrictedExtent: new
OpenLayers.Bounds(-180,-90,180,90)}">
  <layers>
    <layer server="http://www2.demis.nl/wms/wms.ashx?WMS=BlueMarble"
tocName="Map" params="{layers: 'Earth Image,Borders,Coastlines', format:
'image/jpeg'}" options="{isBaseLayer: true}" />
  </layers>
</mapSearch>

<mapViewer options="{projection: 'EPSG:4326', maxExtent: new
OpenLayers.Bounds(-180,-90,180,90), units: 'm', restrictedExtent: new
OpenLayers.Bounds(-180,-90,180,90)}">
  <layers>
    <layer server="http://www2.demis.nl/wms/wms.ashx?WMS=BlueMarble"
tocName="Borders" params="{layers: 'Borders,Coastlines', transparent:
'true', format: 'image/png'}" options="{}" />
    <layer server="http://www2.demis.nl/wms/wms.ashx?WMS=BlueMarble"
tocName="Ortophoto" params="{layers: 'Earth Image', format: 'image/png'}"

"Image2000 Product 1 (nl2) Multispectral" provided in A.12.1.2 of the
Metadata IR [1] could be a good start I think.

Cheers.

We also make a template for a SDI as you explain.
