[GeoNetwork-users] Installation problems, 2.10

Hi,

I'm new to GeoNetwork, though not to GIS, opensource etc. But I'm an analyst, rather than a technical computer person (my own computer is a Mac, and 99% of the time, stuff just works), so I may need to ask you to expand upon your responses!

I'm having difficulty installing GeoNetwork 2.10. I'm going through the process defined here<http://geonetwork-opensource.org/manuals/2.10.0/eng/users/quickstartguide/installing/index.html>, to install on my PC but having started the server I get the error:

'The requested URL /geonetwork/srv/en/main.home was not found on this server'

As the start-up script runs, I see a few warnings, such as the GDAL libs have not loaded, which I know in itself is not critical but could it be indicative of errors in the installation? Is there a log from the start-up script somewhere?

Has anyone any idea where to start in diagnosing the problem?

Thanks

Lawrence

Hi Lawrence

Check in the folder INSTALL_DIR/jetty/logs, log files should contain some
information about the issue.

Thanks Jose,

I’ve checked the log file (attached) but nothing stands out to me as being a critical error.

I have checked the system requirements and have found nothing amiss there, so I’m at a loss.

Any further suggestions??

Still the same problem! Though that doesn’t rule out permissions issues; I generally use a Mac and last time I regularly used Windows it was XP. I’m doing some reading up on Windows 7 and am finding there can be problems with permissions, but I’m struggling to get to the bottom of it. Hopefully I can, and it resolves this problem.

Hi,

Why wouldn't you try it on OS X ? I've got very small experience with OS X,
but with linux, using the jar install file, it works pretty much out of the
box.
Just to check, what is the complete URL you try to open ? It should start
with localhost:8080. If not, that could simply be the issue... ;o)
