[GeoNetwork-users] Installing GeoNetworks in Windows

Hello,

I am attempting to install GeoNetworks 2.2 on my laptop, and am
encountering some errors (I have tried both windows installers (with and
without JRE 1.5) and experience the same issue). I have previously
installed it on another machine without any problems.

o During step 5 of the installation, an error is issued stating
that there is a CSV compilation error. I ignore it and continue the
installation.
o When I start the GeoNetworks server, I get the following java
error resulting in not being able to load up GeoNetworks in my browser.

Thanks,

hello Paul,

could you be more specific and copy the exact error messages you're getting
? Also I'm not clear what you mean by a "CSV compilation error" ..

My apologies. I attached a screenshot of the error window to my
previous email but I guess it got stripped.

This is the error I get when I start the GeoNetworks server:

hi Paul,

it's bizarre, but your error seems to indicate you have a version of Lucene
that's old. (lucene-core-2.3.2.jar is the current one in the trunk, and I
believe the standard GeoNetwork 2.2.0 release uses lucene-core-2.1.0.jar).

Where did you get your installer ? Did you build it yourself, or downloaded
it from somewhere ?

.. in fact, it was myself who put in the code that now causes your problem,
in Revision 1171, on March 3rd 2008. This was related to an upgrade of the
Lucene library to version 2.3.0.

Could it be that you have an older version of Lucene somewhere that somehow,
made it into your classpath ?

I downloaded the installer from the GeoNetwork site yesterday:
http://geonetwork-opensource.org/software/geonetwork_opensource

I am not sure where the older version of Lucene could be coming from.

Regards, Paul.

.. in fact, it was myself who put in the code that now causes your
problem, in Revision 1171, on March 3rd 2008. This was related to an
upgrade of the Lucene library to version 2.3.0.

Could it be that you have an older version of Lucene somewhere that
somehow, made it into your classpath ?

hi Paul,

it's bizarre, but your error seems to indicate you have a version of
Lucene that's old. (lucene-core-2.3.2.jar is the current one in the
trunk, and I believe the standard GeoNetwork 2.2.0 release uses
lucene-core-2.1.0.jar).

Where did you get your installer ? Did you build it yourself, or
downloaded it from somewhere ?

hello Paul,

could you be more specific and copy the exact error messages you're
getting ? Also I'm not clear what you mean by a "CSV compilation error"
..

it's strange.. I've checked the installer on the GeoNetwork site and it has
the correct version of Lucene. I can also install and run GeoNetwork using
that installer without seeing the error that you're having.

One tip is to install GeoNetwork in a directory that has no spaces in its
path (so, *not* in the Windows default location "C:\Program Files\geonetwork"),
as that may cause problems. However I don't think that would solve your
particular error ..
