[GeoNetwork-users] Integration capabilities

Hi List

Would like to know if anyone successfully integrated Geonetwork 2.4.2
with the following;

GeoExt
MapFish
DoJo Tools

Is it possible to integrate (redesign the client side search
capabilities and wms map integration) with these toolkits?

If you know some existing applications / portals, can you point them to me?

Thanks

hi,

don't know about DoJo tools, but here's a version (based on 2.2 though --
but we have a TEST environment based on 2.4.0) using GeoExt, OpenLayers and
MapFish : http://nationaalgeoregister.nl.

Kind regards
Heikki Doeleman

In a similar vein, we have created a 2.2/GeoExt interface which you can see in a demo version (sans all "branding") here:

http://geoportal.scholarslab.org/

We also are testing against 2.4. We'll be adding coverage display and some kind of faceting going forward, and are interested in finding partners for the work. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested.

Hello Heikki Doeleman

Thats quite interesting and what I was hoping for.

Is it difficult to customize GeoNetwork to that extent? What kind of
skill set you need to come with a site like that?

Another question is, I have 100's of xml/txt file that qualify as
metadata but they are not standard based. Can we harvest these files
directly into geonetwork or do we have to write our own to this job?

Hello Soroka,

Your site has a nice map interface and intuitive results display and
adding function to map. I would like to bring the same into the
catalog that I'm planning.

What kind of partners are you looking for?

We're looking for institutional (or other) development partners to continue improving our portal interface (available at http://github.com/joegilbert/gn-geoportal/) or even to join in an effort to build a new one. A number of people and groups have expressed interest in using OpenLayers, GeoExt, etc., along with Solr/Lucene, to build up a portal around GN. We've done some things towards that end, other groups have done similar work, and individuals have as well. It seems a bit silly to have multiple groups working on the same thing. So we're interested in talking with any person or group with an interest in same.
