[GeoNetwork-users] iso19115 / dataSetURI

Hi all,
anyone using the dataSetURI field of the MD_Metadata element ?

Reading its definition, it should be used to store the "URI of the
dataset to which the metadata applies". We could also use the
DistributionInfo section for such informations.

For one catalogue, we would like to add the metadataURI. Using this
information, if people export the file and send it by email, the user
could still get back to the original metadata XML document.

Do you have any suggestions on where to store the metadataURI ?

Thanks a lot.

Francois

Francios,

BlueNet-Geonetwork is storing the dataSetURI in the DistributionInfo section.
as one of the <gmd:transfer...> options e.g see :

http://bluenet.its.utas.edu.au/geonetwork/srv/en/metadata.show?id=784&currTab=simple

and look at the XML in the distribution info. section.

Regards,

Andrew

Hi Francois,

Theoretically there is no place to store the metadata URL. I hope to have this added to ISO 19115 standard during its review. You can help by suggesting a metadataURI in the MD_Metadata class via your ISO TC 211 participating organisation.

Andrew's suggestion will work but the distribution information should be for the resource not the metadata.

This doesn't solve your problem but it may help fix the problem in the future.

Thanks.

John
