[GeoNetwork-users] Issues with 2.10.3 and contributing to bug reports/documentation

Dear List,

I'm not a coder but I'd really like to help with Geonetwork in any way I
can- either by submitting bug reports or helping to improve documentation.
I'd like to understand what the situation is with Geonetwork 2.10.3- if I
report bugs will they get included in 2.10.4?

What is the best procedure for helping with the documentation? For example,
there has been some discussion recently about methods of upgrading and
importing data from one version of Geonetwork to another- I think this
would be extremely useful to cover in the documentation and I would be
happy to help with that.

Also, what is the proposed release date for Geonetwork 2.10.4?

Thanks

Jo

The 2.10.4 was planned for some weeks ago, but due a bug in CSW related to
ESRI Geoportal was decided to wait until was fixed. For now I didn't get
any feedback on this issue status, so I guess additional bug fixes can be
applied. I'll check to gather more information about the CSW issue status.

Yes, this would be really good. The best way is that you fork the
repository, update the documentation and make pull requests to review.

See my initial comment.

Thanks

Hi Jo,

Patrizia (Patrizia.Monteduro@anonymised.com) and I are sort of trying to work on updating the documentation, since June. Unfortunately, we didn't get very far for now, too much work besides...
I expect to get soon back to working on the docs. If you want, we could try to collaborate on this.
After a bit of thinking, my opinion is that we have to refactor a bit the docs, but not so much. And add to it a batch of How-tos and tutorials. The idea would be to keep the doc at a reaonnable size, and complement it with step-by-step and illustrated instructions matching very specific needs. E.g. "I want to upgrade my geonetwork instance. How can I do ?"
Anyway, any contribution will be welcome !
Cheers,

Jean
