[GeoNetwork-users] No data upload button after XML metadata import

Hi My name is Alan and I'm from the University of Auckland. Nice to meet you
all! :slight_smile:
Recently we are toying around with a standard setup of Geonetwork 2.2, and
it is all marvelous. However whenever we do an XML Metadata Insert, the
"Upload" button under distribution would not appear even when I change
Protocol under Online Resources to File for Download. As a result I had to
navigate to Advanced View and add an extra panel of Online Resources to get
the button back and upload the dataset.

Could anybody get me out of my misery on where the button went? :slight_smile:

Thanks!

Alan

Hi Alan,
You have the option to change the XSL that is responsible for the transformation of the metadata. The other option you have is to use this tool to do an export of data + thumbnail + metadata and upload that straight into the geonetwork catalog.

Let me know if that works for you.
Ciao,
Jeroen

Hi Jeroen!

Thanks for the help! The code works perfectly. The only thing would be that I export the XML from ArcGIS, would you know of a way to incorporate the XML element into the metadata schema, so I don't have to copy and paste it every time?

Thanks! :slight_smile:

Hi Alan,
Welcome!
Try to make sure there's already the "template" online resource element in your XML you upload. That should hopefully give you your upload button immediately.

So it should look something like:

                                       <gmd:onLine>
                                               <gmd:CI_OnlineResource>
                                                       <gmd:linkage xmlns:srv="http://www.isotc211.org/2005/srv">
                                                               <gmd:URL/>
                                                       </gmd:linkage>
                                                       <gmd:protocol>
                                                               <gco:CharacterString>WWW:DOWNLOAD-1.0-http--download</gco:CharacterString>
                                                       </gmd:protocol>
                                                       <gmd:name gco:nilReason="missing">
                                                               <gco:CharacterString/>
                                                       </gmd:name>
                                                       <gmd:description gco:nilReason="missing">
                                                               <gco:CharacterString/>
                                                       </gmd:description>
                                               </gmd:CI_OnlineResource>
                                       </gmd:onLine>

Ciao,
Jeroen
