[GeoNetwork-users] Requesting a WMS request for a map with a simple rectangle superimposed

Hi

As I am having difficulty getting more than one map visible I was wondering about the feasibility of simply squirting off a map request to the geoserver but getting back an image (or html to stick in a frame) but telling geoserver to add a box to the returned image - in other words I guess adding a layer or a feature on the fly as it were.

I can get stuff back with:

http://localhost:8090/geoserver/wms?LAYERS=gn%3Ane_50m_boundary_da%2Cgn%3Ane_50m_boundary_lines_land%2Cgn%3Ane_50m_coastline&FORMAT=application/openlayers&SERVICE=WMS&VERSION=1.1.1&REQUEST=GetMap&STYLES=&EXCEPTIONS=application%2Fvnd.ogc.se_inimage&SRS=EPSG%3A4326&BBOX=\{$bboxValue\}&WIDTH=256&HEIGHT=256<http://localhost:8090/geoserver/wms?LAYERS=gn%3Ane_50m_boundary_da%2Cgn%3Ane_50m_boundary_lines_land%2Cgn%3Ane_50m_coastline&FORMAT=application/openlayers&SERVICE=WMS&VERSION=1.1.1&REQUEST=GetMap&STYLES=&EXCEPTIONS=application%2Fvnd.ogc.se_inimage&SRS=EPSG%3A4326&BBOX={$bboxValue}&WIDTH=256&HEIGHT=256>

but I'd like to tailor this request so GeoServer returns me something with an area of interest displayed on the map?

Or am I going to have to try to figure out how to get javascript working...?
