[GeoNetwork-users] Search suggestions are altTitle, can be Title? (2.10.3)

Hi,

We are running a Geonetwork instance of 2.10.3 and are currently using
apps/tabsearch (though the issue is the same in at least /apps/search
suggesting a setting/config somewhere at "syswide" level)

When performing a search a list of suggestions appear vertically, these
appear to list the alt Title of metadata records. So if I search for
"Newfoundland breed, description" because that is the title of a record its
alt Title will show in the suggestions list. These can be cryptic so I was
wondering whether this behaviour can be changed somehow?

We are able to change the source and rebuild if necessary.

To clarify I am not referring to the list of hits presented after "Search"
is clicked, that list shows the title first as expected. It's the
suggestions list presented as you type the search term that lists metadata
records via their alt title.

Thanks for reading : )

Hello list,
sorry for the initial confusion.. have been looking at what the default
main.search.suggest?field=any&sortBy=STARTSWITHFIRST&q=
returns. It searches "any" field , abstract, title, altTitle, online
resources etc and shows where the string is part (or the whole of) that
hit. In effect the suggestions list appears as a result of a *term* search
and indeed you need the asterixes to get the same results when you perform
the search ,i.e click "Search". What had me a little confused is that
titles aren't returned with a capitalized initial letter, any hint on
changing that?
Further, and this is a bit more critical: the suggestions search cannot
seem to cope with spaces, unlike when you click "Search". So if for
instance the title of a metadata record is "Green cats" typing that without
(or with) the quotation marks will yield no search suggestions but it will
show hits when you click "Search". Is this a known issue, or a
fixed-in-later-versions issue, or not really an issue but more of a user
error, or perhaps even a config-issue?

Regards
