[GeoNetwork-users] Search - Where close

A second question ...

I need to eliminate the list of countries from the Where close in the GN main page
and keep only few of them, or alternatively (preferable) put my own (local) thesauri, which
have been created inside GN.

Should you have any suggestion please let me know

Thanks in advance

Emmanuel

Hello Emanuel,

You can do it updating the two tables named "regions" and "regionsdes" on
the database

example :

insert into regions (id,north,south,west,east) values
(100001,44.24821728,44.06165206,5.11253563,5.44996203);

insert into regionsdes (iddes,langid,label) values
(100001,'en','_MyRegion_');

Moreover you can delete the others you didn't want...

Best regards,
Fabien Bachraty

A related question, can the initial map service bounding box that loads in the search area be customized? I found out you can set the initial service(s) that load by modifying the default map servers/services in the Intermap WEB-INF/mapServers.xml file. You can also change the temporary image that loads in the map area by modifying Intermap/images/map0.jpg. However, I do not know how to change the initial zoom extents. Is this set in an XML or config file that I can change?

I am just getting started using GeoNetwork so I apologize if this topic has already been previously covered on this list. Thank you.

Hi John,

I recently had an issue where I load some map other than the GeoNetwork
out-of-the-box maps, and the map wouldn't be displayed in a good zoom-extent
(the scale of the whole world was being used) and so my map showed as a
little dot in the mapviewer, the map being of Holland.

After discussing with Emanuel Tajariol he came up with this fix for the
minimap:

remove this line from im_minimap.js:
im_mm.setBBox(90, 180, -90, -180);

and in my experience it is also good to do a similar thing for the big map:

remove this line from im_bigmap.js:
im_bm.setBBox(90, 180, -90, -180);

Both lines are near the beginning of those files.

Then InterMap will automatically show your map's extent suitably zoomed.

Hope this helps,
Heikki Doeleman

Thanks Heikki. The setBBox function was already commented out in im_minimap.js. I had to do it myself in im_bigmap.js. Works great in both the mini and big maps. Also, good idea by someone to use a standard graphic as the initial placeholder for the minimap. Just by seeing that gave me some ideas I can use for my own organization's implementation. Thanks!

FYI, I am using GeoNetwork 2.2 RC2 (just downloaded it) and GeoServer 1.6 as a separate install.
