Hi list,
I have GeoNetwork 3.0.4.0 installed and when I go to the site address (
http://blablabla.bla/geonetwork/) the site is loaded with the following
address: http://blablablabla/geonetwork/srv/por/catalog.search#/home
So, despite bringing up the portuguese language, all text is shown in
english and some text is messed up. But what I'd like is for the site to
load in ENGLISH, that is:
http://blablablabla/geonetwork/srv/eng/catalog.search#/home.
So, question is. How do I set the default language to english? I read that
this was done in spring-servlet.xml but from what I saw, eng is already the
defaultLocale there. spring-servelet.xml contains:
<bean id="localeResolver"
class="org.springframework.web.servlet.i18n.SessionLocaleResolver">
<property name="defaultLocale" value="eng" />
</bean>
Thanks
Daniel
An update. GeoNetwork is trying to load portuguese locale but since I don't
have po-core.json and po-search.json, it defaults to english.

Ok, I'm still strugling with this.
I though the default laguage setting was configured in /WEB-INF/config.xml
There I have:
<default>
<service>home</service>
<!-- the following service is called if there is an exception raised
during the initialization of resources or
the appHandler org.fao.geonet.Geonetwork
-->
<startupErrorService>error</startupErrorService>
<language>eng</language>
<localized>false</localized>
<contentType>text/html; charset=UTF-8</contentType>
....
localized was set to true. I changed to false in the hopes of forcing
English as default language. But that did not work. Is it possible to have
GeoNetwork use english as the default language, ignoring my browser
localization?
THanks
Daniel

Hi, I was trying to do similar (always show first page in slovenian
language), so I did like this (you can leave eng).
in config.xml I have
and in core/src/main/java/org/fao/geonet/web/LocaleRedirects.java
I changed/added these lines, so it always goes to default language (in my
case slovenian)

Hi Amacar,
Thanks for your help. But now I've hit another wall, a very basic indeed. I
can't find the location of the
core/src/main/java/org/fao/geonet/web/LocaleRedirects.java
I've installed GeoNetwork by simply the war file into the tomcat7/webapps
folder and setting up the database and the data dir. I can't find where this
LocaleRedirects.java is inside the tomcat7/webapps folder...
Thanks
Daniel

You need to change source code from github and build new *.war.

Thanks Amacar,
So there is now way of setting a default language except by recompiling the
code? That could be a bit daunting for users just wanting to use GeoNetwork
and not get so much into programing and setting up development environment.

I don't know any other way, but maybe developers of geonetwork can help, this
is beyond mine capabilities.

Hi, I think Jose plan to improve that see

Cheers.

Hi
I'll check to commit a fix for this, giving precedence to the Spring locale
resolver.
