[GeoNetwork-users] Spatial search area overlap ranking? Geonetwork 3

Hi,

In our geonetwork setup many regions are global. When searching spatial all queries will match with the global datasets.
It would be nice to adjust de ranking of the search extent with the datasets.
For example when I draw a bounding box of the netherlands, datasets that have a similar area size should ranked higher that areas that have a much higher or lower area size.

Would this kind of ranking be possible with geonetwork 3 or would some custom code be required?

In case code changes are required, could you please give an indication on how to implement such a feature. I'm will to make the code available as a pull request if such a feature doesn't exist yet.

Regards,

Rudie Ekkelenkamp.

Hi,

No this feature doesn't exist in geonetwork.
If you want to sort result on the extent size, it must be done server side,
from Lucene index.
I don't think it's gonna be easy.
