acoording to the Metadata Implementation Rules of the german SDI "GDI DE"
the data -service linkage has to be realized via "xlink:href" attribute in the "srv:operatesOn" element
(gmd:MD_Metadata/gmd:IdentificationInfo/srv:SV_ServiceIdentification/srv:operatesOn).
I am using GeoNetwork 2.6.4!
Using the search dialog (Binocular-Button) only the attribute "uuidref" is stored with the UUID
of the coupled dataset.
The grid showing the results in the search dialog already shows a column URI which
contains the URI of the corresponding dataset. So I think it would be quite easy to make GN store
the xlink:href to this URI as well.
Does someone offers a patch for this or might give me a hint where to look in the code to implement it?
Thanks in advance for any help

sorry to bring up this old thread again, but since the subject is
completely right and the last suggestion seemed to work, I'd like to ask
about the current status of this issue. I'm using GN 2.10.3 on Suse Linux,
when I edit a service record and want to add the ref to a source dataset, I
tried both suggested ways: using the binoculars adds the uuid to the
uuidref field and the getRecordbyId URL in the xlink:href. However, as the
OP mentioned in the german SDI the local identifier should be appended to
the namespace using a "#". I tried Anja's suggestion using the XML-view and
saving it from there, but GN keeps on stripping this manually added
"#my_local_id". Is anybody experiencing the same behaviour?
