Hi,
I'm quite surprised that Geonetwork's layout still uses intricated tables
with inline styles. Is it planned to switch to a pure CSS, tableless, layout
?
Am I the only one interested in it ? I didn't find any reference to similar
requests, I confess, I'm puzzeled
I believe it would make customization of geonetwork much more flexible...
Maybe I will try to port the layout to a tableless one : is people
interested ?
Thanks
Jean

Jean,
I've done this during the course of our own customization of GeoNetwork, but only for one display (main-page.xsl) and one output (search-results-xhtml.xsl). We just haven't moved into other areas yet. All of it is up at https://code.lib.purdue.edu/trac/gis/pugo/wiki but I warn that A) this is under active development for our own specific purposes and B) none of us are user interface/CSS masters [plus C) we're going for a very stripped-down look and have therefore chopped out many page elements].
Still, it might be a starting point for you.

Hi Jean and Chris,
I think you're not the only ones with that interest and would welcome you to make contributions to that end. It has been discussed in several occasions, including on mailing lists and I know several people have done work towards that.
Chris, there's a whole load of people interested and/or working on integrating OpenLayers into GeoNetwork too. It may be interesting for you to link up and start collaboration on this directly on the Geonetwork project instead of on a custom version in a separate SVN?
Ciao,
Jeroen

Jeroen,
I assumed there would be many doing in OpenLayers, but I wasn't seeing that much activity on the listservs lately. Then when ogomez2 asked again recently the only response (other than mine) was the one pointing to François' at http://dev.sandre.eaufrance.fr/gnopenlayers/
I would love to hear from others who are working with OpenLayers, as I, too, am afraid we're duplicating work. We haven't yet put OL on our search form as an input mechanism (not too hard, I don't think), but we're very happy with how it is integrating into search results -- we send wms urls to it (via tilecache) when available and when there is no wms url we, like, François, tell it to just show the spatial extent of the record.
If anybody else is working with OpenLayers->GeoNetwork, please do speak up and we can perhaps make this more efficient.
