[GeoNetwork-users] Unable to connect to local host

Hello everyone,

I am entering now in the world of FOOS4GIS and having some issues with the basic stuff.

I installed OSGeolive12 through VirtualBox in my MacOS Mojave. basically to use Geonetwork, Geoserver and OpenLayers.

When I try to start Geonetwork it appears the page “unable to connect- Firefox can’t establish a connection to the sever at localhost:8880” it happen the same with Geoserver. I thought it was something related to the o firewall or the proxy so I disabled everything but still doesn’t work ( although I could have done this wrong) It might be something related to the localhost and the port but my knowledge related to this is almost 0.

Could anyone give me some insight or guidance on this? I will be grateful if you explain it to me as if I were a grandma… although if not possible I will be most grateful as well!

Thank you very much in advance!

Cris

Hi,

In general, questions about osgeolive might be better asked on the
osgeolive list rather than geonetwork, but as it happens, I came
across the same problem with geonetwork on osgeolive at the weekend so
I'll try and help. Firstly, you might find that you just need to give
it more time to load- the progress bar and firefox tend to start up
after a fixed amount of time, but geonetwork might still be loading in
the background. Give it a few minutes to load up and see if it works
then.

If that doesn't work, reply to me directly if you like and I will try
to talk you through the steps you need to get it working.
