[GeoNetwork-users] Which identifier is used for harvesting CSW?

Hi list,

For harvesting the docs state that "The harvesting mechanism is based on the
concept of universally unique identifier (uuid)." When harvesting a CSW (in
this case containing ISO19115/19139 metadata), which element is used as this
identifier, for checking if metadata already exists (and may need an
update)? Is it the fileIdentifier (/MD_Metadata/fileIdentifier) or another
element?

Hope someone can tell me!

Best regards,
Thijs

Hi Thijs,

it's gmd:fileIdentifier, as can be seen in
<install-dir>/web/geonetwork/xml/schemas/iso19139/extract-uuid.xsl.
