[GeoNetwork-users] Working Import XSL for ArcGIS Metadata XML?

Hello all,

does anybody has a working import for metadata created by proprietary GIS
software that is quite popular in germany named ArcGIS?

Of course I tried the options ArcCatalog8_to_ISO19139.xml and
ARCGIS2FGDC.xml - but the results does not convince me. Any click to view
metadata result in the error "Too many nested template or function calls.
The stylesheet may be looping." - by the way: The error is not displayed
properly, see here:

ArcGIS also has an export for ISO19139 that does not work with german
language pack, even if I uninstall this package floats have decimal commas
and not dots, so import also fails.

As ArcGIS is quite popular, I assume there is a way for easy importing - who
can help with this issue?

TIA,

-moenk

Hi Moenk,
Is your problem occurring when you try to display the metadata? I have the impression from your screenshot that the import itself didn't generate errors!? Did yo inspect the resulting XML record?
Cheers,
Jeroen

Jeroen,

import works and the editor could be used afterwards. The error message does
not appear any more when I edit and close/save the form (but this has to be
done on each record).

Anyway fields does not look fine, the results are not acceptable and start
like this:

I guess there's a way to import ArcCatalog Metadata as this software is
quite popular and see the result properly formatted, not all this
uninteresting crap, there is also binary encoded data that I think to have
been the thumbnail.

For my further investigation I'd like to know whats the proposed way to
import ArcCatalog Metadata and if there's someone who did it.

Cheers,
