ECMWF is organizing workshop on the use of GIS systems in meteorology, to be held at ECMWF, Reading, UK, from 24 – 26 November 2008. This event is being jointly organised by ECMWF, the UK Met Office and Météo France in response to the recommendations made at the 11th workshop on Meteorological Operational Systems held at ECMWF last November. The aim of this workshop is to review the use of OGC standards in geo-sciences in Europe and worldwide, and to promote collaboration between meteorological services in order to define a set of common standards that will enhance interoperability. The expected outcome of the workshop is a roadmap for the creation of common reference implementation of OGC compliant web services for meteorological data which could lead to a set of recommendations to WMO. It is envisaged that the workshop will consist of a limited number of presentations from invited speakers, plus a series of 20-minute presentations. There will also be open discussions, working groups and plenary sessions. Please let us know if you would be willing to give a 20-minute presentation on GeoNetwork Please make sure that you send a copy of your reply to ogcworkshop@anonymised.com For more details, please refer to http://www.ecmwf.int/newsevents/meetings/workshops/2008/OGC_workshop/index.html Best Regards, Baudouin
