Hi, I'm about to announce 2.0-RC1, and I see that DB2NG and OracleNG extensions are missing. Or are the NG extensions from 1.7 the standard extensions for 2.0?
Thanks,
Mike Pumphrey

Err, no, they are not, I think they won't be working since trunk
code is a little different that the one for 2.0.x
Ah, but wait, on trunk db2 and oracle are "ng", the older,
legacy datastores are no more packaged.
So it's actually the older ones that have gone the way of the dodo.
Cheers

Hi. Sorry, still confused. So this extension, even though it's not named NG, is actually the same extension as the DB2NG from the 1.7.x branch?

Yes, it is. What I meant in my mail is that you cannot take the 1.7.x
version of it and use it against the 2.0.x series, or vice versa: they
are not binary compatible.
But besides that, yes, in 2.0 we're basically dropping the NG
and just use those as the defaults (PostGIS has been changed as well).
I believe the only non NG database extension we're distributing is
the MySQL one (an NG version of it exists, but atm it's significantly
slower than the older version... unfortunately there is lack of
interest in it).
Cheers

Okay thanks. I won't update the Download template for now (so I may ask this again on RC2 if I forget), but I'll update the RC1 download links.
Thanks,

I just noticed that the link Application Schema Support (the app-schema plugin) on the RC1 download page was missing. The artifact was published, just not linked from the page. I added it:
http://geoserver.org/display/GEOS/GeoServer+2.0-RC1
It was present here:
http://geoserver.org/display/GEOS/GeoServer+2.0-beta2
Is there some procedure I need to update to make sure app-schema is included in the download page for the next release?

oops, my fault too. Hope to sometime cut a release clear...

We just need to update the confluence template to include it so whomever is cutting the release does not forget. I guess Mike was going to do so though.
Cheers,
Gabriel

Mike, will you update the confluence template?

Template updated. I make a habit of clicking every link in the download pages to make sure that we don't miss any artifacts, but I can't keep in my head all the extensions that may not be in the template, so thanks for this catch.

Thanks Mike. I was a user that spotted it.
