[Geoserver-devel] 2.3-beta1 stalled on missing dependency dbconfig

The following is available for manual testing (since yesterday):

I did try the publish step, and ran into a helping of build fail: geoserver-release-publish#34

Missing:
----------
1) org.geoserver.community:dbconfig:jar:2.3-beta1

Not quite sure why this is not found, the previous step geoserver-release#51 log does menino dbconfig so I would expect it to be available.

Jody Garnett

When i try to compile dbconfig from master locally, I get a compile error:

/home/dwins/Projects/geoserver/src/community/dbconfig/src/main/java/org/geoserver/catalog/hib/HibPostLoadEventListener.java:[75,47] incompatible types
found : org.geoserver.catalog.PublishedInfo
required: org.geoserver.catalog.LayerInfo

I imagine this is related to the recent work on LayerGroup metadata.

I guess it has not been kicked out of all the places then?

I actually officially disabled the module (removing it from dependencies, etc…) last night replacing its artifact with jdbcconfig, which should be the replacement going forward unless someone wants to pick the module up.

BUt I guess Jody was building from a revision before this.

Yeah, I would say grab the latest, cite tests are all good. It is only a beta as well. I did however just find.

Which could be consider a blocker.

I imagine this is related to the recent work on LayerGroup metadata.

The module was kicked out of the build due to API changes that it could

I guess it has not been kicked out of all the places then?
Maybe it’s still in the “community/release” dependencies?

Definitely a blocker for a release, but for a beta? Wow...

Besides, under the time boxed release model releases have to be made on time.
Is there anything I can do to help get this beta out? The RC is in 3 weeks, we
need to have users test the beta and report, sitting here trying to fix one
more bug does not help

Justin, my apologies, I did not mean to be rude.

That said, I stand my ground, it seems to be it's no big deal if the fix is
done one day later than the release and you end up using a nightly build.
A beta is supposed to contain misbehaviors, as long as they are no destructive
and do not make it impossible to use GeoServer I would not delay a release
for them

Thanks Justin.

I just checked and your change does allow the script to get out if bed in the morning, the build looks like it deploys correctly. However step to tag in GitHub failed ( as the tag already exists from a previous attempt ).

Thanks Justin.

I just checked and your change does allow the script to get out if bed in
the morning, the build looks like it deploys correctly. However step to tag
in GitHub failed ( as the tag already exists from a previous attempt ).

Right... the script needs some logic for handling the case of tag already
existing. I will delete it manually and push the one on the server.

With that I think we can call this release published minus going into
sourceforge and setting all teh os flags for all the artifacts.

I think it is all good. Actually it caused me to find a bug in the release

hopefully it will go through with success.

Hmmm... just seen that Jody did not manage to publish the release, there
was
a failure in th publish script, and he wrote on IRC that he's going to
be off the net
for the next two days.

This is bad...

Looks to me like a simple error. The release is "2.3-beta1" but the
release publish job specifies "2.3-beta". I'll fire it off again.

Just went in and did that - https://sourceforge.net/projects/geoserver/files/GeoServer/2.3-beta1/

However when I look there I think I see an error (I noticed it before but did not manage to send an email). When testing on mac, the DMG worked fine, but the ZIP file is invalid (and only 6.26 kb! ). Not quite sure how that happened, something to note for next time (and I expect I should just delete the offending file).

So last steps for me is a bog post, I will time it for monday.
Jody
