[Geoserver-devel] A better FAQ

Hello there, GeoServer Developers.

With the the march toward a new documentation framework progressing [1] [2], I wanted to tackle yet another big subproject, our FAQ [3].

I don't know how everyone feels about this in its current state (I for one have never touched it) but I think it could use a little cleanup. Actually, a lot of cleanup. In fact, part of me wants to wipe it out and start from scratch. And so I'm polling you (yes, you) as developers for a list of questions that you are asked on a semi-regular basis. Either that, or questions you think offhand should be part of a GeoServer FAQ. I'd love to semi-automate the question gathering process (by querying Nabble or the like) but I don't know of any systematic way of doing this.

Any advice from those who have been at this longer than I have would be appreciated.

Another thought on this. Since I'm taking ownership of the FAQ, perhaps I could suggest that, going forward, if anyone here fields a question that would be good to have on the FAQ, perhaps you could forward it to me or send it my way, and I can do the adding. Unless, of course, you would like to add it yourself.

Thanks,
