[Geoserver-devel] About oracle spatial data

In my condition, I use geoserver to connect oracle spatial Geo data. The coding in oracle(V9.2.0.4.0) is UTF-8 and chinese characters can show normally. But I try to use Geo data in oracle which is GBK coding, Chinese characters can not show normally. So I want to know if these is a possible that Chinese characters can show normally in Geo data that store in oracle using GBK coding?

Hi,

This is a tough one to diagnose. While the GBK encoding is a supported
on by java it is a multi-byte encoding so I am not surprised if
somewhere along the way another encoding is assumed and information is
lost. The hard part is figuring out where.

It would help if we new if the problem was actually in GeoServer or with
oracle. Would you be able to write a little test app that connects to
your database and pulls some character data out of it. If the chinese
characters display correctly then we can have a better idea of where the
problem is.

Thanks,

-Justin
