Hi,
just a quick notice to say that I'm about to create a new
module in the community section, named "csv".
It is a module that we're developing for a commercial project,
thus it has specific needs, but that we'll keep in the community section hoping to get it general enough in future iterations.
Basically the module will enable a set of users to
upload csv files having a well known primary key (say, a zip code)
turn them into a set of database tables (one per column)
and join them with a geometry table that already has the same key, creating a view that can be used to make thematic maps.
Given the very strict time constraints and the specific project
requirements, it will be postgis specific, will have some odd requirements on the csv file structure (three header lines) and won't use the community schema stuff (since we simply don't have time to debug it).
If there is interest enough, it'll evolve in something
more useful to a wider audience in time, and hopefully
will make use of the community schema work when it
becomes available as a standard GeoServer functionality.
Cheers
Andrea
