This is not a bug fix, it is an improvement to avoid nasty configuration mistakes. No core code is touched, only GUI components/logic are added.
Should I backport to make the job for admins a little bit easier ?

Seems pretty innocuous to me, and useful too
+1 for the backport.
If we want to be totally strict, the 2.3.1 release is in 10 days, backports
of new features are supposed to happen in the
first two weeks of the release month. However, I'm also ok if the commit is
done right now, as it does not seem it
can affect any other code.
