Hi,
a month ago I’ve committed the node id GUI customization changes discussed in what might be
the longest discussion thread on geoserver-devel:

Do you mind a backport to the 2.5.x series? The 2.5.2 release is still almost a month away.

I have a question about these back ports, what is an example where the community would wish to say no? Perhaps, after a month, it is sufficient to commit the change citing the month cooling down period.

In any case + 1 for backport to 2.5.x

In case someone feels the change is dangerous, extensive, with significant
risk of regressions, and no
appropriate counter-measures have been taken, or has backwards
compatibility issues.

Asking for the backport is basically asking "is there a risk this will blow
in our face, and if so, have
we taken enought extra precautions that we feel good about it anyways"?

Generally speaking I'm not that worried as long as the change does not
affect code paths that all services
use, tests were made, and so on.

But if the change is very large (touches all the code base) or is in some
critical piece (dispatcher,
resource pool) I'd like to see first that we are comfortable with the
change, that we took some extra
steps to make it safe
