[Geoserver-devel] Backporting significant portions of ShapeZipOutputFormat down into GeoTools

Hi,

In Mapserver it is possible to configure extra contents to be included in the zipped output. That could be the copyright/license text, tailored metadata etc. Have you considered this? Some user either on geoserver-users or gis.stackexchange actually was after such feature.

You can read more about this rather cool configuration option “wfs_additional_files_in_output” https://github.com/mapserver/mapserver/issues/4884

Sorry thought that was an implementation detail, rather than API.

I had considered facade ( good for code examples and ease of use, but for parameter documentation as you indicated). param object does not help much as you may as well do your worker class.

Hum… ok, I assume I’ll move on my original plan then (I don’t see any focused feedback above).

I had also considered something like the internals of your feature process implementations so saving to a zip could be put at the end of a process chain.

That would be a ProcessParameterIO then, we already have one doing that job calling onto the WFS output format.

A process that zips its own outputs is badly designed, that breaks ability to chain it, a well designed one goes

out with SimpleFeatureCollection and allows other processes to consume (chaining), and PPIOs to encode (in whatever

format they see fit)

Cheers

I don't have funding for it, but external contributions are welcomed.
The tool that I'm going to backport will simply add the ability to split
files when size limits are reached, the current functionality will be
otherwise retained (but we'll get the ability to export
even bigger datasets thanks to the size based split).

Some user either on geoserver-users or gis.stackexchange actually was

Unfortunately coolness is not going to give me one working minute more on
this task.
