[Geoserver-devel] beta3 release

Hey all, so we’d like to follow up the great beta2 release with a beta3 release. We’re aiming for this week, though the main thing we’re looking to get in is WMS 1.3, which is still on a github branch. But I know a few people have gotten a chance to review it, and Justin is just putting the final touches on the GSIP before officially proposing it, his first since rejoining the PSC. You can see the preview at http://geoserver.org/display/GEOS/GSIP+56±+WMS+1.3+Support

We’re hoping to get it approved in the next day or two, and then put out a release immediately after. So thursday at the latest, perhaps even wednesday. Does anyone see any problem with that? We’ll be doing all the work to put out the release, just asking for a bit of help to get WMS 1.3 reviewed quickly. Andrea already gave us feedback on the branch, so Justin will work on incorporating that tomorrow.

Note we also will be proposing a community module for INSPIRE specific capabilities, but this will be outside the scope of the GSIP. It’ll let people drop in a .jar and be able to edit INSPIRE specific extended capabilities, and also set a language param (though for now it’s just one language param, filling out alternate languages is out of our scope, but would certainly be a welcome patch). Both pieces can be reviewed at https://github.com/jdeolive/geoserver/tree/wms13

thanks!
