Those who have blog access and want to help out with the blog post for the 2.0-beta2 release announcement here is a first draft I just whipped up:

There are a couple of pages on the geotools and geoserver wikis but they are kind of all over the place.
We should probably point to the tutorial that Ben recently did:

But yeah, something more introductory might be nice, Ben, do you have anything in mind?

This start of the tutorial is a the best introduction we have at this time. I plant to refactor these docs to make a manual plus tutorial.

Justin, are you talking about a better introduction to complex features or to app-schema?
Remember, you can have a simple feature app-schema. GeoServer "simple features" are a misnomer; they would be better described as "auto-schema features" or "inferred-schmea features".

Yeah, this is part of what we have to do is start socializing these ideas with the wider community, and nailing down proper terminology. Basically this involves a dump of your brain into something coherent
