Hi,
It sounds easy but by experience I can say that it is not. I have translated OpenJUMP and Kosmo GIS totally into Finnish, made some work with QGIS and started to translate the UI of Geoserver. However, I stopped soon my work with the GeoServer UI. The UI is huge and making a proper translation is not really possible without understanding the meaning of the options. All tabs and menus should use about the same terms about the same things and that is not always the case even in English. Translation is not at all just translating the words, especially if translation is made into another language family with different grammatical system. Definitely it is not something that any student can do during lunch breaks.
Is it not possible to select the language when Geoserver is started by setting Java options
-Duser.language= and -Duser.country= ? If not, then I guess that deleting the language file “GeoServerApplication_pt_BR.properties” that can be found inside the jar
\webapps\geoserver\WEB-INF\lib\gs-web-core-2.15-SNAPSHOT.jar should make Geoserver to start next time with the default language.

Wouldn’t a better solution be for you (and your students) to fix the errors (http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/developer/translation.html). Remember none of the core devs speaks portuguese.

Hi All,
Since GeoServer 2.8.x there has been a problem in the language pt_BR:
Words in Portuguese (green)
Words in Spanish (blue)
English words (red)
I would like to request that the pt-BR language be removed from GeoServer (2.14.1) until its translation status is 100%.
I have done several GeoServer courses here in Brazil and this mix of languages has been a problem!
