[Geoserver-devel] Bug fix code sprint in December (aka "Christmas bug fix sprint")

Hi,
at GeoSolutions we are thinking of doing a bug fixing code sprint in December.
Rough idea:

  • One day
  • Internet based
  • Close as many bug reports as we can (documentation improvements also welcomed!)
  • Both GeoTools and GeoServer

To allow for some planning, and eventual event overflow in the weekend for those that
want to follow, we’d be suggesting as potential dates:

  • December 6th
  • December 13th
  • December 20th

The first two dates would be interesting to get more meat into the Dec 18th release,
but the Dec 20th is also a good one (good for the January release)

I don’t have a list of potential tickets we could work on, but if you feel it may be useful,
I could create one (as a list of seemingly easy to fix things)

For the Wicket upgrade, we would also like to propose a sprint in January, again internet
based, possibly again a Friday to allow for weekend overflow for those that have time
and will to march on. Date to be determined.

What do you think? This is just a proposal, propose improvements as you see fit

Cheers
Andrea

I think it is a great idea Andrea, and would love to take part.

I recommend Dec 6th (to give things more time to settle before release).

I also think we should keep in mind our 6 month release cycle, upgrading to wicket in January would put it right before our first beta.

Works for me. Btw, we only mean to fix bugs, but if someone wants to write
new features it's also fine, they
would just have to limit themselves to trunk.

So... can I count you in? :-p

Ah, you're making a great point here. Uh... at this point, given that this
thing has been ongoing for a long time,
I'd maybe wait for 2.5.0 to be out, and do the sprint right after it, to
give the changes time to settle down
as people use trunk for development purposes
What do you think?

Cheers

Dear All,
adding my feedback, I would rather go for the 13th as I would not be
available to devote much time on the 6th.

Thanks for the feedback. So we have some feedback from Jody and Simone.
Anyone else?
