I'm not sure if this is related:
I went into geoserver->data->featureTypes->{mymapname} and altered the file info.xml. It pointed to capitals for the sld, and I changed it to refer to an sld I had created previously. When I got back into Geoserver, and went into preview maps, my map no longer showed up on the list. I finally got it to show up and have the appropriates styles by replacing the contents of capitals.sld with the contents of my sld file. It appeared that, if the sld did not arrive with the installation, it would not use it. I'm using Geoserver 1.6. Is there a list somewhere that has to be updated?
Hi Amy,
Yes, you have to create an additional entry in the catalog.xml file for
the style. That is most likely the problem. Unfortunately you cannot
just drop SLD files into the styles directory and have them picked up
automatically, you either have to hack the catalog.xml. You can also
upload your sld via the GeoServer ui.
It sure would be nice though to get them picked up automagically. If we
ever get around to redoing the config you can be sure that will be a
feature.
