Hey all,
Due to some issues we were running into GeoNode I found an inconsistency between the way metadata is handled for vector vs. raster layers in GeoServer’s REST API. I’ve described the issue in a bit more depth at https://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-4717 and I think the patch I’ve attached fixes it without other side-effects, but I would love for a developer who is a heavier user of this functionality to take a look before we bring in this change.

I don’t see any particular issue actually on preserving existing coverage store metadata.
