The files in the client archive look like they belong in a web server directory. What is the suggested location, and how is it configured to use various servers? I didn't notice that info in the docs.
(I'm mentioning these little things in separate messages so the headers make it easier for others to find these answers until the docs are fixed)

The one and only binary (.war) does belong in a web server. The war file
is generally placed in the web-apps folder, but may be nested deeper
depending on your URL requirements. Where ever you put the .war file, a
geoserver sub-directory will apear containing the geoserver application
when the web container has been started for the first time (after adding
the war file).
If you wish to re-deploy geoserver, delete the geoserver directory, and
place the geoserver.war file you wish to have deployed in the parent
directory of the previous geoserver directory ... your web-app will do
the rest.
